The bluebonnets have come early this year
Even though I still have to drive a good 40 minutes to work every day, I will say that the recent appearance of the millions of bluebonnets that are flourishing alongside the highways have made the drive much more enjoyable. These beautiful, royal blue flowers are only in bloom for about a month out of the entire year, but during this time it is hard to find a patch of grass by the highway or any open field that is not completely covered with them. It is not uncommon to see people stopped on the side of the road taking pictures of themselves or their kids or their pets posing among the brightly colored blossoms. I admit I have done the same, like any homegrown Texan, and have taken trips out into the Texas countryside for the sole purpose of taking pictures in the bluebonnets. Evidence of this seen in the photo below.

I SOOOO miss the bluebonnets! Last year I bought some bluebonnet seeds and planted them in my flowerbed, thinking, "How hard could it be to grow bluebonnets? They are all over the sides of the highway in TX, surely it's easy!" Yeah, it's not. I got one little seedling, but no flowers! Sad!
